The Grasmere Gingerbread Shop (Sarah Nelson's)

The recipe is locked in the National Westminster Bank in Ambleside. The business is owned and run by the Wilson family, and has been for over 60 years. Each day visitors to the shop are greeted by the wonderful aroma of freshly baked gingerbread and an atmosphere that's bursting with tradition.

The Bridge House

Painted by Turner and photographed by thousands of tourists each year, the tiny Bridge House in Ambleside was built suspended over Stock Beck to escape land tax. At one time it was said to be home to a family of eight but now serves as an information centre for the National Trust.
